| Asheba teaches weekly classes in Middle Eastern Dance at a dance studio on the northwest side of San Antonio. |
Her curriculum includes:
Egyptian technique (Basic)--combinations and steps; basic pattern steps; body locks; 3/4 shimmy on the up and 3/4 shimmy on the down; samiha and double samiha and more.
Egyptian technique (Intermediate to Advanced)--exploring the multi-layered combination such as undulations with vibrations; shimmies with maya, figure 8s and hip circles; rib circles and maya; vibrations and locks etcetera.
Taxim--how to capture the soul of a song. Emphasis is on smooth transition in torso movement; framing with the use of the hands and arms; hands and arms as the focal point; layered vibrations; and internal versus external projection to the audience.
Sword--an alternative to sword with floorwork. Focus on sword presentation; standing taxim with sword; unusual balancing techniques; spinning and swinging.
Stage presence--what is the right persona for you as the performer. How to project to the audience.
Costuming--how to design your costume, making a paper pattern, construction, beading and appliqué techniques.
